What would have happened if you partook of the bread and the wine? I remember going as a child to a kingdom hall with my grandmother (my parents were out of town) I was raised baptist. I wondered why my grandmother didn't partake. I was used to passing the plate by when it came to me because I had not been baptized yet, but I didn't understand why no one else did.
It seems like to me it's an open rejection of Jesus's sacrifice.
What would happen if a bunch of Christians went to one of those ceremonies and actually partook and then stayed after to give testimony on their personal relationship with Christ. Would they get thrown out? Would it be effective?
My grandmother was the first person I ever witnessed to when I first came to know Jesus as my Savior and boy did she ever make my head dizzy by her twisting of scriptures. I prayed for her and mom and dad and other family members spoke to her about the Lord, but she never left her JW's. I wonder, because she did end up going to my wedding and it was held at a Baptist Church. And on her death bed she said to me, "I'll see you there" and she looked up. I asked her to repeat herself, but she would not. My brother-in-law says he had a talk with her and that she admitted to him that she believed in Jesus as her Savior but didn't want to tell my mom because my mom was a Bible thumpper. I really do hope I see her again. She was a very sweet woman. I love her very much. Because of her, and because I myself was involved in a church that although Baptist (not the same one I got married at) started having some strange teachings and strong abusive control over the people of the congregation, I have a heart for people to know the truth of God's word. I know what it feels like to know something is not quite right, but not want to go against the leader. I know what it feels like to be confused, scared and in darkness. I know what it feels like to have to leave the only friends you ever knew and who feel more like family than anyone. I know what it feels like to feel like you don't know how to trust anymore. These people are being lied to and my heart goes out to them. It breaks my heart when I think of the passing around of the emblems of Christ's sacrifice and them not partaking. They are so close to even have it in their hands and rejecting it because they don't believe it's for them.
My prayer is: Savior, please reveal yourself to them. I try to treat JWs who come to my door as I would hope Christians would have treated my grandmother.<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('43','Nancy Crews'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('43','Nancy Crews','What would have happened if you partook of the bread and the wine?
Robert,

I remember learning how to read out of the bible at the age of 6 when my mom started studying. I finally left at the age of 27. My parents continue, my dad is his congregation's PO, both of my sisters and I are not a part of it.

I always ask my sisters, do you think the JW's are truly happy? NO...it is all an allusion. With all the rules and regulations and finger pointing, NO, no one is happy in that Organization, not even the BIG WIGS that sit there with a smug look on their face.

I have not attended the Memorial in several years. Not interested. Not any longer. Same experience. No one cares to meet you or greet you...all about the ceremony. Take a lesson from the Catholic church....if all you want is ceremony, there you go. If you want to celebrate the sacrifice of Jesus and the salvation of mankind and the true love and fellowship, then talk to people. Typical witness thing, dress up, show up, pass the stuff, see who partakes, ok, go home... What is the point? Crimenently. Why are we here at this celebration..wow, if only a member of the Governing Body were present..what a rush! I do not take them for more any any of us...just men, imperfect, not prophets, not inspired and probably have a bit of a megalomaniac complex....<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('40','Robert'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('40','Robert','I have not attended the Memorial in several years.
You are not alone. Seen it, daughter experienced a lot of it, she is addicted to drugs and alcohol. She may pull out of it, but we are to blame for subjecting her to the dumb ass stuff you experienced. No, Andria, no dates, no Andria, no field trips, worldly, etc. Brainwashed.....the fallout is enormous. Be a model Barbie witness wife and you will live forever. Try to think for yourself or respond to normal human needs for love, affection, etc....you are worldly and could get disfellowshipped. Baloney, anyone finding him or herself outside can give thanks. I would rather be dead than live that life anymore. 5 meetings a week, spout the stuff that you have to, no questions, no debate, at least 9 hours a month or you are looked down on, the cliques in the congregation...you feel that you are not in the "in" group...my God, what is this bull crap? I would rather be an Atheist! Really...is this paradise on earth...oh, the brothers that go to college and have big businesses...well, they are like the Republicans.....big news. Usually elders and big wigs...the lowly brothers that lived in trailers....well, they are lucky to get invited or talked to or to get called on to give a comment at the meetings...want to comment..make sure it is right in line....no variations....and sometimes the prominent ones were screwing someone else..sorry, truth...so, think about it. Man made organization saying it is "inspired of God" and the only true organization..Jehovah, show me that it is your organization and that things are handled justly, consistently and I will be there. Try to think for yourself or respond to normal human needs for love, affection, etc....you are worldly and could get disfellowshipped. Baloney, anyone finding him or herself outside can give thanks. I would rather be dead than live that life anymore. 5 meetings a week, spout the stuff that you have to, no questions, no debate, at least 9 hours a month or you are looked down on, the cliques in the congregation...you feel that you are not in the \"in\" group...my God, what is this bull crap? I would rather be an Atheist! Really...is this paradise on earth...oh, the brothers that go to college and have big businesses...well, they are like the Republicans.....big news. Usually elders and big wigs...the lowly brothers that lived in trailers....well, they are lucky to get invited or talked to or to get called on to give a comment at the meetings...want to comment..make sure it is right in line....no variations....and sometimes the prominent ones were screwing someone else..sorry, truth...so, think about it.
Foolishness and virtually criminal negligence on the part of incompetent "brothers." They are deficient to begin with and then "appointed" like they are some saints. Bullcrap. They have no training, no experience and they rule the congregations. The society should send them to school, to college to get a psych degree first before they try to counsel people who have problems or have potential for abused kids, etc. Experts? Very much not. Little rulers in little kingdoms? Yes. Give these guys that used to be drug addicts and shipping clerks and high school drop outs and that is what you get. Not that these folks could not make good elders and counselors, but without any training, what do they fall back on? The Society's publications? That is it? Really, just read the books, mostly a lot of Bible references and you are qualified to determine a person's life. What would they do, counsel a gay person to commit suicide since Jehovah hates him? My son is gay, I cannot explain it, do not fully understand it, but he is a good person. In my opinion, Jehovah needs to explain this to us, not just say that he will die. I should die to, since I fathered him and I love him. Explain these things to me, please Watchtower Society. And, Bro. Franz, I agree with him. Bunch of old cronies holding on to Russell's beliefs, stolen from the 7th Day Ads.....did you read the stuff about the Great Pyramids? I had a copy of those volumes...ridiculous. I am sorry, I still love all of the brothers and sisters I have known. Like Ray Franz, I would help them if in trouble and welcome them into my home.. I just have to say these things. I would welcome a strike of lightning, take me if I am blaspheming....do it....<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('38','Robert'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('38','Robert','Foolishness and virtually criminal negligence on the part of incompetent \"brothers.\" They are deficient to begin with and then \"appointed\" like they are some saints.
I applaud your decisions. I have faded out of the organization. The only reason I avoid any of the "brothers" coming to the door is to avoid the DF. Really, for me, I don't give a darn. I really, really do not. It is for gramma that I avoid it. My three adult kids are doing fine not being baptized. I resent my intellectual gifts being sacrificed many years ago and only via my intelligence and perserverence did I get to a level of professionalism that provides for my wife and family, now. No thanks to the dumb ass revelations and predictions. How sad. I do love God, but I resent that he has not acted to give the collective humanity a real clue and a brain. I would rather be dead than live under what I consider religious totalitarinism. Judicial committee....most of these guys have no clue, no training..an example,....my sister, disfellowshipped for about 20 years. Oh, no, just because she says and demonstrates that she has changed...not good enough. The Inquisitors know all...damn them. I hope that they have to kneel before Jehovah and answer for their lack of humility and for having the mentality to punish people forever....for God's sake, how long do you have to suffer/and still want to "get back in"? Screw that...kill me with a lightning bolt, now...Gotta hand it to her that she still attends and sits in the back like a leper...jeeeesh..<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('37','Robert'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('37','Robert','I applaud your decisions.
HI,I WAS A JW . THE ONLY THING THAT KEPT ME HOPEFUL FOR A BETTER LIFE WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO ARMAGEDDON ,THE NEW SYSTEM,THE RESURRECTION AND LIVING IN HARMONY WITH THE PLANET .EVERY TIME A NEW IDEA OR UNDERSTANDING WAS ANNOUNCED I ACCEPTED IT WITH ALL MY HEART.THEN ONE DAY THE WATCH TOWER MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT THAT ARMAGEDDON WAS NOT GOING TO COME IN OUR LIFE TIME! SO HERE I AM FACING OLD AGE,NO MONEY SAVED,BASIC EDUCATION,BECAUSE I BELIEVED WITH ALL MY HEART THAT JW'S WERE THE ONLY ONES WHO WOULD SURVIVE ARMAGEDDON.NOW I AM NOT SURE OF ANYTHING EXCEPT, I KNOW NOTHING THAT I CAN SAY WITH ALL MY HEART IS REAL. IS GOD REAL ? SOMETIMES I THINK YES.I KNOW IF GOD IS REAL THAT JW'S ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES A LOVING GOD WOULD SAVE,SEEING THAT HIS FIRST CREATION,JESUS,DIED FOR OUR SINS,SO WE COULD AT LEAST HAVE A CHANCE.IF GOD IS REAL ,I AM THANKFUL THAT HE AND JESUS ARE MY JUDGES NOT ANY MAN OR ORGANIZATION.<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('36','becky'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('36','becky','HI,I WAS A JW .
Did they really ask you for money while they plotted to disfellowship you? (These people (JWs) are the worst, for way more reasons than that). In your experience, I feel that they shamelessly intimidate and take advantage of people who are vulnerable spiritually or in any other way. Nobody knows what is really going on in these congregations except the elders, and they clearly allow abuses to go unchecked, let alone cause a few, I'm positive.<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('34','claye22'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('34','claye22','Did they really ask you for money while they plotted to disfellowship you?
